WHAT YOU SHOULD AVOID DOING WITH YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS

When having clip-in hair extensions, what you should not do with it?

If you are a regular user of hair extensions, you must have already known that whatever you do with it may affect its attributes including the lifespan. So before you decide to have your extensions bleached, or brush it even if it’s still wet, think twice.  Here are things you should not be doing with your hair extensions.

Brushing the clip-in hair extensions while it’s still wet

If your hair extensions are wet, don’t brush it or it will tangle up even more, snapping the hair strands and may cause the wefts to shed. It would be best for you to leave it to dry overnight using a towel. After it is fully dry, comb them from the bottom of the wefts and then upwards gently.

Cutting the hair extensions without the aid from professionals

Don’t attempt to cut your hair extensions yourself or you will end up buying a new set. If you really need to cut it so it will blend in with the natural tresses you have, reach out to your trusted hair stylist and let them do the job.

Drying the hair extensions using heat styling tools

Don’t overdo styling to your hair extensions. Since you are using heat styling tools, it may cause damage to the strands. Avoid too much straightening or curling to your extensions. If you really need styling, make sure to apply heat protecting spray that will act as a shield to your extensions.

Installing the hair extensions close to the hairline

Did you know that attaching the extensions too close to your hairline is noticeable? Not only that, it can also be painful and is prone to fall out. Have it attached about two inches away from your hairline and half an inch away from your scalp.

Making hair extensions suffer from bleaching

Hair extensions have already gone through chemical bleaching so don’t make it suffer for more peroxide-related processes. Lightening your hair extensions may damage the wefts and shorten its lifespan. However, dying it with darker shades is applicable.

Sleeping in hair extensions

Before you decide to lie down on your bed to sleep, make sure that you’ve taken out your clip-in hair extensions, or else they will become matted and tug your natural hair. By not doing so, you’ll have a warm night’s sleep and it will prolong the life expectancy of your extensions.
